The Goethe-Institut Los Angeles and the American Cinematheque will celebrate the 8th edition of German Currents on October 9th -12th, 2014 at the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
German Currents 2014 - 8th Annual Festival of German Film Los Angeles begins with an opening film and gala on the evening of Thursday, October 9th, 2014. 
Continuing through Sunday, October 12th, German Currents 2014 will present a varied selection of current German cinema; including features, documentary, and short films, as well as a family/youth film.

This year's lineup includes Germany's Official Oscar Entry "Beloved Sisters" and Austria's Official Oscar Entry and winner of eight German Film Awards, "The Dark Valley".
The festival opens on Thursday, Oct. 9th with the screening of Germany's Official Oscar Entry "Beloved Sisters", a red-carpet opening gala featuring filmmakers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and a reception following the movie in the courtyard. 

Besides film screenings, the four-day festival will feature conversations with some prolific German directors, composers and actors, a free family film screening for local schools, the opening of the multimedia exhibit "The Other Worlds of Werner Herzog" at WUHO gallery (Woodbury University's center for experimental exhibitions and multi-disciplinary collaborations) and a filmmaker brunch exclusively for press and invited filmmakers.
German Currents is produced and presented by the Goethe Institut Los Angeles and the American Cinematheque.
As in years past, German Currents Los Angeles continues its cooperation with German Films Service + Marketing GmbH, Deutsche Welle (DW) as well as the long standing collaboration with the Friends Of Goethe (FOG) , and E.L.M.A. (European Languages and Movies in America).
German Currents 2014 is also proud to continue the cooperation with our partner festival German Currents San Diego, as well as the German Consulate General in Los Angeles, the Austrian Consulate General in Los Angeles, and the Consulate General of Switzerland to present additional films from Austria and Switzerland: Germany's German speaking neighbors.
